Oh, one more trouble-shooting question.  Does the Microsoft telnet server
work and accept logins?

I'm hoping these narrow things down.

Do you have other (Internet) services working on your system?  Have you
tried disabling
your fire wall? Does the same thing happen for remote users (telnetting in
from an external system)? Are you behind an NAT?  Have you tried your local
IP (not the internet IP) instead of the domain?  When you installed the OS,
did you reformat and do a complete fresh install and what OS?

Well, I spend all day getting my machine cleaned up and a new OS installed
on it, in hopes that it would clear up the problem of telnet access.

I have found out that if telnet (the OS service) is enabled when the machine
boots up, then eleserv -telnet will not even come up.  This is the error
message I get:

e:\ele>eleserv -telnet
Fatal error occured!
Unable to bind to socket, RC=-1
#0,

If I cut off the telnet service, then eleserv -telnet will come up, but
still won't work.  You still can't get to my BBS.  I have gone through the
elconfig a dozen times, and nothing has changed.
