subject: PZM mikes

I am working on a local high school musical where there are singers on stage
and a live band in the pit. To reinforce the singers the sound designer has
placed three PZM mikes along the front of the stage. The problem I noticed
s
that that setup gives you a low signal/feedback ratio. The speakers are
etup
about 30 feet above the front of the stage on the ceiling, and the mikes are
placed flat on the floor.
What is the pickup pattern of PZM mikes? Do they pickup everything around
them in a 180 degree area? How should they be placed to reject sound from
he
band in the pit and to reject feedback from the speakers above?
