Hi David, it was nice to receive your message. I used to "play" here
quite a bit, but had dropped out of sight for about a year due to a lot
of upheaval on the home-front (deaths in family, moving,) but enough
about that....
You say that you are planning on buying another bird...what kind do you
have now and how many? I have one of the sweetest Sun Conures I've ever
met. He is physically more attractive than a lot of the ones that I've
looked at even to date. I lucked out when I found him. Of course he is
nicknamed "velcro bird"...the name being self-expanatory. I think that
he believes that I was put on this earth for his sole pleasure. hehehe
Oh, yeah, his name is Phoenix and he is now about 1 1/2 yrs. old. I've
had him since he was 4 - 6 months old. He is great at picking up words
and phrases that I use. Every night when I put him to bed, as soon as
I cover up the cage, he starts saying "he's a good boy"... and he makes
a kissing noise followed by "thank you". (every time I ask him for a
kiss and he gives me one, I always say thank you. That's where he picked
that up. He thinks that a kiss and the word thank-you are one complete
"item"...) He's a polite bird to say the least 
I also have five cockatiels. I was breeding over the years, but have not
for the past year due to the fact that I couldn't put in the time
needed to do this. The oldest is almost 10 yrs. old now with the
youngest being almost 1 1/2 yrs. My 12 yr. old daughter now has
"custody" of them. And I'm proud to say that Mom taught her well! 
The 'tiels will give her a hard time every so often, and I'll have to go
into her room (that's where they are kept) and straighten them out. It
amazes me that I still have that much control over the 'tiels seeing
where I am not their primary caretaker any more. They just don't pull
the same stuff with me that they will try to get away with my daughter.
They listen to me *very* well.....
Well, this is what keeps me busy here. Just thought that I'd let you
know a little about me and mine...
