Well, folks, I finally did it!! I found the perfect horse!
She's a 10 yo, 15.2, red roan appy mare named Shiloh! Totally calm,
bombproof, sweet as pie and with a trot you could ride all day. She needs a
little canter work, but since my girls are rank beginners, they won't be
cantering for a while anyway, and I'll have plenty of time to work on that.
She was originally owned by a 70 yo man who trail rode her, then by a family
with a ton of kids. Kids have lost interest, so father is selling all the
horses.
She's so sweet, she actually put her head to my chest and let me hug her
after only a few minutes of my handling her. What a doll! Richard is so in
love with this horse, it's pathetic!
So, here we go!! The program will be ready to roll in a couple of
weeks...Shiloh should arrive sometime next week, and then after a week or two
of letting her acclimate, we'll get started. Already have 3 girls who want
to participate.
Yeeeeeha! Best day I've had in a loooong time! Can you believe it! Meg
bought an appy! Richard says she has an araby looking head...and that's why
I fell in love with her at first sight (g). She looks about as much like an
arab as my terrier pups do! She's built like a tank!!! Got a butt the size
of Texas! She'll be absolutely perfect for the program, and for Richard, who
has now decided he's truly a cowboy at heart (g). This mare has all the
qualities of a perfect family horse...exactly what I was looking for! What a
find!
Meg
