Sounds very similar to the philosophy over at my kids' school. My daughter 
(going into 5th grade in the fall) couldn't tell you which is a noun and 
which is a verb, but she can express herself pretty well in writing - when 
she takes the time to do so. (Her biggest problem: she won't take the time to 
do it.)
