With most networks, there's no equivalent to half/full duplex.  It's
just not an issue.

This is just plain wrong.  486es have a 32 bit path to memory.  Pentiums
(and above) have a 64 bit path to memory.  Both use 32 bit motherboards.
The real way to diagnose the problem is for Danial to post his code so
people can look at it and test it out.  My guess is that some bug has
lead to things being written to the mailslot twice, but it's also
possible that this is simply a bug in Win95.  One way of testing that
would be to see if Windows NT does the same thing or not.
