GM> JE> Could, but I do not think it will happen that way. Even my
GM> JE> earliest CDs are still clear as a bell.

GM>But how old are they?

Some going on about 10 years I think.

GM> In this day and
GM> JE> time, I would think the CD manufacturers would have given
GM> JE> that a lot of thought and took steps to avoid such
GM> JE> happenings.

GM>These days I suspect most manufacturers are more interested in
GM>seeing their products wear out so you'll buy new stuff. Yeah, I
GM>may be cynical, but I'm also a realist.

Unfortunately you are correct.

GM> JE> Really not so strange. We were missing two pillow cases and
GM> JE> a large recycling bin. They just dumped what they "thought"
GM> JE> they wanted in those and carried them off. They trashed the
GM> JE> steering column in my car trying to get it started but
GM> JE> failed. Had they got the car started we would have been
GM> JE> missing much much more. They would have piled the car full
GM> JE> and drove off - emptying it somewhere then dumping or
GM> JE> burning the car.

GM>True enough. They must have been reasonably confident that you
GM>weren't going to come back in the next few minutes. Most times
GM>theives are anxious to grab something easy to sell and get out
GM>quickly before they are caught.

Very true - most burglars are in and out in less than 10-15
minutes at the most - often only 5. Also, now days most
burglaries occur in the day time - working hours.

Oh they were very confident. We were off on a trip with our
34' travel trailer (caravan to you) and had been gone for
several weeks. The trailer is normally parked in our back
side yard - quite visible from the street. If it is missing
tis logic we are probably not home. Repeated ringing of the
door bell would confirm that.

They will have a mite harder time next time if they try
again. I am installing an alarm system with a siren that
will wake up the dead and will call up to 5 numbers. All
entry possibilities will be monitored - except where they
actually got in -by cutting a hole in the roof and coming in
through the attic. When they move inside it will set off
the alarm however.

Also have three motion detector flood light/cameras setup so
as to get their pictures on my VCR.

Jay
