There is serious scientific work going on trying to locate just what part
of the brain is involved in religious thought as well as trying to figure
what evolutionary benefit there would be in its appearance at such an early
age. Tribal establishment of law? Establishing a feeling of purpose as
consciousness emerged? lessening a fear of death? All? Some? Any of the
above?
