Hi Marianne.
-
-> It is the worst part is that were not to get to involved because we
-> don't want the animals to bond with us but it doesn't mean that we
-> don't get attached-I had a baby harbor seal that I got very attached
-> to and after I got bitten by another harbor seal this one I was
-> attached to took a turn for the worst while I was at the hospital she
-> hung in for a couple more weeks then she died, broke my heart but I
-> know it goes with the territory so have to accept it.
-
That must be difficult, there must be a good share of happy moments as
well though. Do you do any underwater work with any of the animals?
It must give you a very different veiw of marine life when you are out
on a dive.
-
-> research on sharks was a TRUE EYE OPENER. EVERYONE SHOULD DO THAT IN
-> EVERY RESPECT------Why are people prejudice because they prejudge
-> what they don't know anything about!!(Sorry about the commentary
-> there)
-
I think the problem is that people believe all the media tells them and
make judgements about things from without getting more information about
it. And there is always the fear of the unknown. I agree with you,
knowledge of aquatic life should be a part of every divers education.
It would help the divers to be more comfortable with the aquatic life
and help prevent unintentional harm or distrubance to the aquatic life.
-
-> So where do you dive???? You won't believe this about my diving
-> experience----I've done all this research and when I was going to get
-> certified we were taking a trip to Hawaii so I ended up getting
-> certified in Hawaii and I haven't had the pleasure of diving locally
-
Most of my dives are/will be here in Barrie Ontario, in the surrounding
lakes (Lake Simcoe, Little Lake). And I am sure I will have a number of
trips to Tobermory, Ontario (between Lake Huron and Georgian Bay).
Tobermory is a dive town, there are many great dive sites there (lots of
wrecks, walls and interesting underwater rock structures. I wont be
doing much diving now untill after winter as I am not certified to go
ice diving and the ice will be here soon (by mid Dec it should be
starting). I would like to go ice diving but I will have to wait
untill I have more experiance, maybe by then I will be able to afford
the ice diving course (overhead enviroment).
-
-> yet but maybe January or so because I would love to go diving at an
-> annual event in Monterey---"The Chocolate Abalone Dive" each abalone
-> has a prize # in it from what I understand which corresponds to a
-> prize like dive trips and dive equipment. Just bought a house so my
-> saving is gone!!! But I couldn't pass up the opportunity.
-
Sounds like fun, we have an anual treasure hunt dive run by the Wet Shop
here in Barrie, and of course the pumpkin carving compition. It is nice
to have these taking place at home, saves on travel.
Type to you later
