I'm with you.....I don't trust the bastards. Throughout my diving career,
shark sightings have been fairly uncommon, but I will never forget a dive
trip off the North Carolina coast where a buddy and I were spending a surface
interval snorkeling in about 110 feet of water. Both of us noted two sharks
that drifted up from the depths and casually began to swim a circular pattern
below us. As time went by, they slid shallower and shallower, and the
circles became smaller and smaller. My buddy and I both lost our nerve at
exactly the same moment, disproving the theory that two masses of matter
cannot occupy the same space at the same time, because we both jumped onto
the transom of the boat at exactly the same second.
I have no doubt in my mind that one of them was planning to bump us next. I
had no desire to see whether it would be me or my partner first.....FWIW,
that's the only time I have ever been run out of the water by a critter.
