subject: Re: Christians And Jews

-> Lee, I do not wish to enter into a debate with you, but a clarification is in
-> order here.

I love debating, and arguing. I dislike quarreling :-)

Lessee...where can I pick...Forgive me, it's 1:30 am and I have time on my hands...:)
->
-> While Christianity, Judaism and Islam may all be monotheistic religions,
that
-> most certainly does not mean that the participants in those religions
are all
-> worshiping the same God.

Drat. No argument there. In fact, I'll push it...the conception of God
changes and the nature of God changes not just in history but in the Old
and New Testament itself. From a Storm King, a fierce Judge, to a human
form teaching of the inner nature of a 'Kingdom of heaven within'...It's
all a matter of believers ability/desire to quantify, to describe aspects
of God, in a comprehensible way which has so far produced exactly
1,543,376,465 books, some of which I have not read. --- And then there's
the _level_ of participation...

-> The Jewish "God" teaches that God has no son...
Solomon was among others I can't recall was called a 'son of God.'
I know the Koran teaches this. I don't recall that as a 'teaching' in the
Old Testament.
, and
-> that He is one.
Yes. And this often. I wonder why Jews feel they have to be reminded of
this...and why Muslims have to be reminded that God is great...

 The Muslim "God" likewise teaches that God has no son....
Yes. Very specifically here. Jesus is a respected prophet born of the
virgin Mary...
 The
-> Christian God clearly teaches that God the Father is one, but...
I love sentences that have the word "
but" in the middle of them :-)

-> that He has a
-> Son who died for the sins of the world...

Because He couldn't have just said "Your Sins are forgiven!", but He
decided to do this to His son...
Ah, The Lamb Of God -sacrifice. Man! My Easter Dinner (Due to family work
schedules we celebrated Easter last Wednesday...A Tradition, involving lamb
and coloring an egg and generally celebrating Spring. I don't understand.
Why were/are people so easily convinced that sacrifice is a really good
idea?.

, in order that we might obtain
-> Forgiveness, Salvation and Eternal Life...

Buddha, to Arjuna: "Work out your own salvation"

Forgiveness?
The moving finger writes and having writ, moves on
Neither your piety nor wit can lure it back to cancel half a line
Or all your tears wash out a word of it. (Omar)

Cognitive persistence is a splendid hope; but (there's that 'but')when my
body releases the billions of bacteria that now slave to keep it
maintained...I shall enter a state as natural as sleep...without the
dreaming. Back to MY religion: Every day is a very enjoyable day; and I am
not 'anxious for the 'morrow' :-) I'm 81, with luck, (or the Grace of God,
or 'inch Allah') I'll get 20 years - in which almost anything can happen.
:-)

 Obviously, all three gods can't be
-> right, and two of them must be false...or are you suggesting that God
likes to
-> argue with Himself and confuse people?
He can't, having the answers. SHE can, however, She is curious; the
equivalent to Her putting her hand on a hot stove would be, evolving
creatures that become extinct. Wisdom Herself spoke in the Old Testament as
I recall...
