That's the other thing I meant to ask, then you're loading a menus.bbs
file?  Have you tried taking it out and seeing what happens?  When I
started my bbs 6 years ago I startede on a 8088 with 2 3.5" drives and
no hard drive so I used a ramfiles.bbs and a menus.bbs for speed's sake.
Left it in my configuration long after upgrading to a 386 and when I
finally went to 2 lines and running under Desqview, that little bit of
RAM it took up became needed and I had a similiar problem .  deleting
the ramfiles.bbs and menus.bbs solved the problem.
