    I am a little curious as to exactly which version of the OPTIMA you have. 
If
    you could, please issue an AT-i3 to the modem and let us know what is
    returned.  We have firmware that deals with some connectivity issues seen
    in the earliest version of the V.34 code for the OPTIMA 288 quite well.
    Please let us know what you find.
