May: Rivendell/Bree Moot 3. "In May, we will be hosting Bree Moot 3,
a small, fan-oriented Tolkien Conference, in conjunction with the
Children's Theater Company production of THE HOBBIT. Let me know if
you're willing to work on this. This is a much smaller event than the
Mythcon we hosted a few years' back, and probably smaller than the
Mankato Tolkien Conference of last spring--and with a less-academic
focus, more of a fan/reader orientation. We will have a special guest
speaker: John Rateliffe, who is finishing up THE BOOK on Tolkien's
writing of THE HOBBIT (working title: MR. BAGGINS, THE WRITING OF THE
HOBBIT). Ruth Berman will also present slides and a talk about
illustrating Tolkien, and probably a Tolkien 'filk singing' session.
The program is intended to be single-track, and we are not certain
about the weekend dates or the location, as yet. Please let me know
if you're 1) interested in attending, 2) willing to help with
organizing or 3) interested in contributing to the program. We have
fliers/posters that need posting, if you know of a place you can put
one or more."
