Big Disney news yesterday was a story that broke in the Los Angeles
Times, confirming that Disney is planning on going ahead with a
second gated attraction in the near vicinity of Disneyland.
The park, to be located right beside Disneyland, is to combine themes
of the Golden Age of Hollywood  and a seaside boardwalk.  No official
word from Disney, but the early scoop is that design elements include
some of the previous plans for Disney's Boardwalk Resort (opening June
30th) and expansion designs for Disney-MGM Studios and the long gone
"Hollywoodland."   Part of this would've seen a studio backlot from the
40's and a real, honest-to-goodness wooden rollercoaster as part of a
seaside resort.
Curiously enough, this report comes on the heels of an announced deal
with the Tokyo for a new Sea-Themed park.  Westcot may be dead, but
this park, built on a smaller scale, might be more attractive to the
newly "non-bankrupt" Orange County.
