No...when Adrian bailed out, he refused to release the software.  Before he
bailed, Dana Bell had developed Echobase for use within the Familynet
network.
He very graciously modified it to work for Fidonet use.

I have written Dana Bell several times, and he knows of nothing in the
software itself that would cause the problem.

The batch file has not changed, and running Echobase without the batch file
still results in the rules file NOT being saved.

I suspect that something has changed with Windows XP over the years.

Yes, there are a large number of very knowedgeable folks in Fidonet.
