LOL, funny you should mention that feral.  My history advisor, whom I took a 
class on nuclear warfare and another on the Cold War from, is fond of 
saying, if it wasn't for the Soviets in WW2, the English would speak German, 
and if it wasn't for the Americans afterwards, then they would be speaking 
Russian.  I got a good kick out of that.
