VF>Dear Bill,
VF>I know you wrote this to Hank and not to me, but I really felt that I
VF>needed to respond...
That's okay, Valery, it's a public forum.
VF> BS> I am encouraged to see that beginning to happen. There is a VOCAL
VF> BS> in the Seattle area which has been operating for several years [...]
VF> BS> And just last week in Witchhu.. er, Wenatchee, WA, 2000 citizens,
VF> BS> not victims, signed and submitted a petition for review of the
VF> BS> handling of the child-molestation ring trials going on there.
VF> Our case is becoming known, although I'm certain it will never be
VF>as famous as yours unless I get so desperate that I do something I
VF>will regret later on. Luckily I'm a fairly easy going, forgiving
VF>type person, so I don't think I'll do anything I shouldn't.
I'm *sure* you won't. Just remaining the kind of person you are
will do more for you than any wrong action. We knew a fellow, oh,
gosh, eight years ago who did go off and tore up a CPS office. He
got the satisfaction of the destruction, but it cost him everything.
VF>The petition sounds like a good idea though and I'd like to get
VF>something like that going that here.
I believe George Hero may have information on that, if it's not already
posted here. I saw something on the WITCHHNT list about the petition;
if I remember right the council wants the citizens to foot the bill for
the grand jury investigation. Makes me wonder how high the corruption
runs.
VF> BS> Things *are* going to change, Hank, they're changing already, but
VF> BS> it's going to take time to *win*.
VF>You've got that right! Today, 8/2/95, has been particularly difficult
VF>for me (2+ hours on the st*nd, I can't t*lk about it) and I really needed
VF>some encouraging words. One thing in our favor is that when an agency
hat
VF>is investigating the handling of our c*se asked what we wanted the outcome
VF>to be, our answer was "To make sure that this never happens to someone
VF>else." This made a big impact on the investigator and caused them to
VF>look at us much more favorably.
VF>Anyway, thanks for the encouragement. I really needed it and am grateful
VF>that you were the one to provide it. :)
Thanks, Val! It's an encouragement to me too to see people standing up
and taking on the system. Enough of us do it, it will come down.
VF>Val
VF>P.S. I'll be okay. I'm one tough lady and I'm not beaten yet!
"Yet"? I say "ever". I might eventually lose, but I'll not be beaten!
Beaten is what happens when you give up and drop out of the fight, when
you surrender; lose is when there is nothing more to be done but you
fought the entire way. The quitter will never know if he could have won
if he'd just tried one more time, the fighter can rest knowing the full
score. Better to have fought and lost than to never have fought at all.
Val, I doubt you'll ever be beaten. You're one tough lady, Val, and
that's what it takes to win, too. God bless you and keep you!
