DH> USA_EURLINK Echo Rules - Short Form and Reminder
DH> 1. No insults (flames) or name calling. No handles or aliases.
DH> 2. No BBS or commercial ads, no "fast cash" or "get-rich-quick" posts.
DH> 3. English is the designated COMMON language here. Posts in another
DH> language must be accompanied by a FULL translation.
DH> 4. Use your editor and limit quotes. A one-line reply does not warrant
DH> a full message to be quoted nor is it necessary to quote tag, origin
DH> and seen-by lines. Think before posting!
DH> 4a. *** Be aware that some BBS's along the way do NOT have an
DH> umlimited capacity for messages in all of the echoes they carry. The
DH> 35 to 40 messages you post might very well *bump* the 2 or 3
DH> messages John Doe posted. Perhaps 25 of your messages get through to
DH> their intended destination but all of John Doe's messages might be
DH> deleted.
DH> 5. This is a North-Central-South AmericaEurope "chat" but not a
DH> "chatter" echo. "Chatter" is meaningless messages between two or
DH> more people which have no meaning other than to the poster &
DH> recipient. "Chat" echos are ones where discussions and information
DH> are passed along as well as 'hellos'.
DH> 6. Above all, always remember to be friendly and courteous. Posts that
DH> are not should be ignored rather than dignified with a reply.
DH> 7. No more answering the WHERE ARE YOU lists!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DH> Conduct of participants.
DH> 8. Flaming of individuals is considered annoying and is strictly
DH> prohibited. Disagreement of ideas is expected and allowed, but
DH> be civil with other participants. Everyone is entitled to an
DH> opinion and at some point, participants are expected to agree to
DH> disagree. The use of a "smiley" in no way diminishes a flame.
DH> Take your flames to netmail or an approriate echo.
DH> 9. Participants are instructed to IGNORE off-topic and flame
DH> messages. Please leave the moderating to the moderators. Messages
DH> regarding the moderation of this echo, or the actions of the
DH> moderators, are to be sent NETMAIL -- discussion on the moderation
DH> of the echo are OFF-TOPIC for the echo itself. The position of
DH> moderator in this echo is not an elected position.
DH> 10. Failure to comply with this conference policy will result in:
DH> 1) A warning to the offending node or individual,
DH> be it a public warning in the echo or a private
DH> warning via netmail.
DH> 2) Repeated offense(s) will result in your feed being
DH> severed.
DH> 11. When posting messages in *any* format, remember that a series of
DH> dashes can cause some BBS and/or mail handling software to barf
DH> and destroy your message. Always replace part of a series of
DH> dashes with some other keyboard symbol, such as, a plus (+) or an
DH> asterisk (*).
Okay, I understand all the rules, and the only thing I can't figure
out is the no aliases. I got ragged out for it, and didn't even know
why. I would love to change it, but it seems to automatically be there
and I tried to change it to my real name and it wouldn't let me. How
can I avoid being chewed out again for something I don't know how to
fix? It downloads my mail under my alias...can you help me out?
