Hello Jeff, Here are three books that may be of interest to you and your readers - "The Humor of Christ", by Elton Trueblood. The author shows how Christ used humor in his teachings to bring a fuller appreciation of the Gospel message. I have read this book several times, gaining new insights with every read. Jesus was not a comedian, but did use humor in various ways to make a point, to reveal a religious truth. Although there are only about three dozen examples shown in the book, there are many more instances of humor one can find throughout the Gospel. "Humor of Christ", by Henri Cormier. The author finds instances of humor in Christ through his parables and ministry. Trueblood's book is a better guide, in my opinion. But Cormier does show some interesting points. "More Gospel Light", by George Llamsa. This book is not about the humor of Christ. Llamsa explains some difficult passages in the Gospel, making those passages easier to understand. Llamsa's most notable work is his translation of the Bible in Aramaic, the language Christ used two thousand years ago. --Lee * SLMR 2.1a * Backup not found: (A)bort (R)etry (P)anic --- SBBSecho 2.12-Win32* Origin: SBBS Orillia - Telnet://bbsorillia.com 1:229/619 (1:229/619) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 11/331 34/999 53/558 120/228 123/500 128/2 140/1 222/2 226/0 SEEN-BY: 236/150 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 SEEN-BY: 280/1027 320/119 396/45 633/260 267 285 712/848 800/432 801/161 189 SEEN-BY: 2222/700 2320/100 105 200 2905/0 @PATH: 229/619 426 123/500 261/38 633/260 267 |
