subject: The Rules

Hello everyone!

It's been a few months since I posted the Rules file for this echo and
thought I should re-post them:

======================

All right, everyone, just what you've been waiting for! The new, improved
Alaska_Chat rules.

THE RULES, September 1, 2004 version:

1.) Alaska Chat is an echo for chat about Alaska, Yukon and the North
or for chat with Alaskans and Yukoners. and others interested in the North.

Alaska Chat is also an open topic echo about northern American or
Canadian topics. Any Fidonet system may join if they choose to
follow these rules. English is the official language.

2.) Absolutely no flaming of other users is permitted! Everyone is entitled
to his or her own opinions. If you can't back up your opinion with cold
hard evidence, then don't be too surprised when everyone who
disagrees with you thumbs their nose at you! Threatening to come
to Alaska or Yukon to assault anyone who disagrees with you will get you
cut without warning! DO NOT DO THIS.

3.) Do NOT quote entire messages! There is no point in half the message
traffic being "repeats". When you quote (mustn't we all?) then
try to pick and choose which parts you quote, you only need to jog
the recipient's memory as to what you were both chatting about!

3.1) Please change the message header when you change the topic of your message.

4.) This conference is for FRIENDLY discussions. Nit-picking over
someone's spelling, grammar, etc. will not be considered friendly
    conversation by this moderator!

5.) Pornographic messages will get you cut without warning.

6.) No complaints about signal to noise ratio on picking up the echo
will be accepted. This is an open discussion echo and it is
expected to cover a wide range of topics both serious and frivolous.
    Sysops may consider themselves warned.

7.) Messages must meet Fidonet echomail standards. They must also
contain a valid fidonet address on the origin line.

8.) Do not post lists, requests to send cards to Craig, chain letters,
stuff off the internet about the "good times" virus or similar type
junk without FIRST obtaining permission of the moderator.

9.) Do not moderate this conference unless you are the elisted moderator.
Feel free to send me netmail or email if you think I am out of line.

10.) NO commercial ads of any kind are allowed. "Garage-Sale" type ads are
allowed if they are Alaskan or Yukon.

11.) This is a real name only echo and aliases will not be tolerated.

12.) Discussions about wolf killing or hunting or not killing or hunting
are allowed as are discussions about other Alaska or Yukon renewable
resource issues until they get to the point that one participant is
threatening to shoot another. Other political discussions are welcome
as long as they are Alaska or Yukon related until the moderator thinks
       they've gotten out of hand.
