I'm not terribly sure about computer software, but for songs (I hold
copyrights for several songs I've written), the copyright is good for the
lifetime of the copyright holder PLUS 50 years.
In the case of a computer program like QB, it could be indefinite.
The best thing to do is to call the Library of Congress, Copyright Office.
I very seriously doubt that the copyright for QB will be lost in the next 100
years. ;)
