  Depends on how much you make as to the tax status. I have passed the 
magic threshold to the rich. I don't qualify for the Roth so I have to 
use after tax dollars and will have to pay taxes on the money when I 
take it out. My only hope for redemption from a tax standpoint is that I 
have a lower income after retirement so the rate might be lower. That 
and the effects of not having the feds bleed off investments during the 
time that the money is in there, so I get to take advantage of more 
money for the compounding effect.
