HI BOb,

YEp, my wife was selling insurance up around sTorm lake and coming home
late at night. A doe ran across the highway in front of her, she slowed,
but the buck, intent on the doe (this was mating season btw) decided he'd
try to butt the van out of the way. I guess a lot of hunters up around
storm lake were hoping to bag that big ol' boy for his rack as a trophy for
above the fireplace.

Did a number on the side of my van. I'd just bought it and never ridden in
it yet except for the test drive.

BA> Both of the preceding happen in this area, although it's usually
BA> road conditions and
BA> not 'cold.' Most small town schools are not air conditioned.

Yep, we Iowegians grew up without air conditioned classrooms, so I guess we
figure our kids don't need 'em either .

RW> You've ridden the school bus for an hour each way
I didn't have to do that one as I lived 8 blocks from the school. MEant a
lot of days when neighboring school districts were cancelled due to road
closures ours were still open, just short some of the teachers that
couldn't get in.

RW> You think ethanol makes your truck "run a lot better"

BA> Dunno if it makes it run better, but in the wintertime it's safer -
BA> the alcohol prevents gas-line freeze ups in severely cold weather.
BA> You don't have to remember
BA> to add a bottle of 'Heet' to the gas every fillup. I've run gasohol
BA> (10% ethanol) in
BA> all my vehicles since 1979.

YOu and me both, but you can't get it around here, or in lousiana where we
did live. YEt when we lived there I always tanked up with ethanol.

RW> You see people wear bib overalls at funerals

BA> I see people wearing bib overalls everywhere. I may start.
I had a pair of those Carharts I liked in the winters. I wore them all
winter long it seemed.

RW> You see a car running in the parking lot at the store with no one in it no
BA> matter
RW> what time of the year

BA> Or parked on the street sometimes, not only nobody in it, nobody in
BA> sight.

Yep, or two farmesr sitting at an intersection one going one direction, the
other parallel in the oppsotie direction, and they have their windows down
and are conversing, sometimes for hours at a time. AFter the vehicles line
up behind 'em for awhile the

RW> Detassling was your first job
My sister's not mine. i played music as my first no make that my second
job. First I worked for the local grocery store delivering groceries.

 RW> You've been on a "Geode Hunt"
 Been there done that.

RW> You install security lights on your house and garage and leave both
BA> unlocked

BA> I don't. Unless I'm home.

Ditto here. I sure knew people who did though .

RW> You carry jumper cables in your car

BA> Doesn't everybody?

I sure thought so. WON't go anywhere without 'em.

 RW> You drink "pop"

BA> I don't drink anything stronger than pop. Of course, pop will drink
BA> just about anything...
BA> (that courtesy of Ben Colder - better known as Sheb Wooley - 45 or
BA> more years ago).

YEp, I"m a coffee drinker myself, once in awhile coca cola with some
bourbon in it.

BA> Thanks for posting those. I liked them even though I'm not a native
BA> Iowegian (born and
BA> raised in Oakland, CA - a great place to be FROM).

Yah, and if you were a native you'd put the usual suffix "far
from" behind that last statement . THought you might enjoy
them.

Regards,
           Richard
