I see on my Fedora Linux box a firefox file in /usr/bin. But most of
FireFox appears to be in /usr/lib subdirectories.
Is it normal to split apps between /usr/bin and /usr/lib?
The firefox-2.0.tar.gz file contains a /firefox/ dir as its top dir. Should
I unzip it in /usr/bin or /usr/lib?
I've seen an admin at work install apps in /opt/. What's with that?
The firefox file in /usr/bin is only 5 kbytes:
[root{at}localhost /]# ls /usr/bin/fire* -al
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 5111 Nov 8 02:09 /usr/bin/firefox
[root{at}localhost /]# ls /usr/bin/fire*
/usr/bin/firefox
[root{at}localhost /]# ls /usr/lib/fire*
