    GM posts another quarterly loss (Reuters)

Reuters - General Motors Corp.  on Monday posted a massive quarterly
 loss as high gasoline prices slammed sales of big sport utility
 vehicles and rising costs for everything from raw materials to health
 care eroded profits.

    Refco in talks with JC Flowers-led group (Reuters)

Reuters - Embattled futures and commodities brokerage Refco Inc.  said
 on Monday it was in advanced discussions with a group led by investment
 fund J.C. Flowers & Co. over the sale of its futures brokerage
 business.

    Stock futures trim declines on GM pact (Reuters)

Reuters - U.S. stock futures trimmed declines, suggesting a flat market
 open on Monday, after a report that Dow component General Motors Corp. 
 had reached an agreement with the United Auto Workers union to cut
 health-care costs.

    Nortel names Mike Zafirovski as CEO (Reuters)

Reuters - Nortel Networks Corp.   on Monday named Mike Zafirovski as its
 new president and chief executive. He will succeed Bill Owens on
 November 15.

    Citigroup profit rises 35 percent (Reuters)

Reuters - Citigroup Inc.  on Monday said third-quarter profit rose 35
 percent as higher investment banking revenue and a gain from a business
 sale helped offset consumer banking weakness and the impact of
 Hurricane Katrina.

    Greenspan, Fukui discuss monetary issues, global economy (AFP)

AFP - US Federal Reserve Board Chairman Alan Greenspan, on a two-day
 visit to Japan, met Bank of Japan Governor Toshihiko Fukui to discuss
 monetary issues.
