Tom McCraw (LSH/L* co-plotter/colorist) and Jeff Moy (L* penciller) were
the guests on America Online's Legionnaires Chat for Thursday, March 12,
1998. Legion of Super-Heroes Chat takes place every Tuesday in the DC
Comics Online area of AOL at 6:00 PM EST. Legionnaires Chat is held every
Thursday in the same area at 10:00 PM EST. (Keyword: CHAT DC.) Regular
guests include Tom McCraw, Jeff Moy, Jason Armstrong, Ron Boyd and Mike
McAvennie.
Thanks to T. Troy McNemar who originated the Legion Chat Reports; so much
of the format of these writeups was derived from his hard work.
DISCLAIMER: I can't guarantee the reliability of this report. Essentially,
the Legion chats involve about twenty-five fans shouting repeated questions
to the creators. The creators are sometimes unable to answer questions
thoroughly or clarify their responses. As a result, misinterpretations may
occur on my part.
SPOILERS: Information that spoils current or upcoming issues is found
toward the end of this report. There's no spoiler space to separate such
info from the more general comments.

:=========================:
Jeff had finished pencilling L* #63 and will start on #64 during the next
few days.
Tom thinks that character interplay is the best part of the Legion.
Tenzil won't be a Legionnaire any time soon.
Tom doesn't know if the upcoming Young Justice team will meet the Legion.
Tom thinks that when the year 2000 arrives, the Legion stories will also
move into their next century.
There aren't any TPBs in the works, but the possibility is being discussed.
It's possible that the Legion will meet Superboy again.
Tom said he'd consider fan suggestions for the next LEGION SECRET FILES,
but we probably won't see the Legion constitution therein. Tom would like
to see a mock interview with M'Onel or RJ Brande in the SF.
After the Dark Circle story wraps up, there will be one LSH installment,
then the #1,000,000 issues. The creators only have rough ideas for the DC
ONE MILLION tie-ins.
The Legion may get a story in the ADVENTURE COMICS 80-PAGE GIANT, but Tom
doesn't know any details on what it would be about.
While Rokk's ex-agent Cuspin is occasionally considered for a return, they
have no plans yet.
Jeff doesn't think the two Kid Quantums were twins.
When asked why Imra doesn't place disturbed Jan on the disabled list, Tom
answered it's because Jan can still function. Then he jokingly pointed out
that Brainy couldn't function, but *he* was still allowed on the team.
Either third place vote-getter Luornu is now the Legion deputy leader, or
Lyle is.
Tom still can't say whom Lyle's 'C' friend is.
Tom implied that the current lineup will be stable for the foreseeable
ture.
Tom noted that Monstress has had the heavy balloon borders on her dialogue
before.
It was Roger Stern's idea to have Chameleon slapping his forehead on the
roll call of L* #60. Stern and his wife Carmela Merlo were drawn onto the
Omnicom on that page.
"Blobetta" is Tom's name for Lori in her transparent blob state in L* #60.
Jeff suggests "Protozoa Girl".
That was the cast of the TV show FRIENDS on pg. 4 of L* #60. Cory Carani
added alien features to them so the creators "wouldn't get into trouble".
Also, Frasier Crane can be seen at the far right of the panel.
Kid Quantum (whose official codename includes the 'II') doesn't like
Winema, but we'll see whether she can get along with Winema's daughter
Tinya, and Shady, who has a personality similar to KQ's. Jazmin will be as
assertive as ever.
Jazmin can create force fields by stopping or slowing down objects in her
powers' path. Tom realizes that her powers are confusing, so they'll be
"spelled out later". Jazmin is good at biophysics, but Brainy and Lyle are
far better. The name "Jazmin" was Tom's idea.
Tom "can't tell" who opposed Val's membership. I don't know if he meant
"not allowed" or "doesn't know". He joked that it was Sensor, referring to
their preboot relationship.
Zoe is one of the Legionnaires on the cover of L* #61. Her costume was
designed by Mike Collins. Jeff only touched it up, since he had been too
busy to design it himself.
We'll soon see what the Espionage Squad has been up to. When asked when
Tinya will be on a mission, Tom tauntingly answered "She's not already"?
It'll be a change, since Tinya hasn't had a chance to be more independent
recently. Also, Tom was affectedly hesitant in saying that Violet was
"busy" during L* #60.
Brainy will be getting a haircut, but he won't be bald.
LSH #105 will show Chuck Taine as Bouncing Boy, and Timber Wolf; these are
the only appearances of them that we'll have any time soon. Gim will also
appear in the timeslip story.
Newsreporter Condo Arlik will become a recurring character, easy to feature
since the Legion attracts lots of media attention.
The creators discussed having Val fight someone to prove he was worthy, but
he'll be doing that later.
Tom said there will "sort of" be some villains coming up, other than the
Dark Circle.
Thom should be guest-"star"ring in the fiftieth issue of STARMAN. It won't
have reprecussions on the 30th Century.
The creators have plans involving Dirk Morgna for next year.
