No, it's not, but he's only a "cripple" because he sees himself
that way. Alan is far more limited physically than Wayne is, but you don't
see Alan going on and on about it. Alan has accepted his limitation and
dealt with it and while he does suffer great pain he doesn't use that as an
excuse to give up on life. Mr Hess is a man to be admired and emulated.
