  Ugh, I had a 1988 "Die Nasty" and replaced the motor in it 3 times, the 
transmission twice, and various other parts.  When the motor croaked the
forth time I gave up and had it towed to a junkyard.

  Oh, I only had it from 88 (Brand new) until 94.  6 Years and all that... Had
a total of 65,000 klms on the odo for 3 motors.

  My wife has a 91 Caravan with 210,000 on it and nothing ever breaks down 
on that one, so who knows?
