James,
I'm from Memphis and the best diving I have found in Tennessee has been
Martha's Quarry, about 4 miles north of I-240, exit 232.
This past weekend was the last weekend the quarry was open until next year,
except for January 1 when they have a special day for diving.
Feel free to write back if you want more info. It's a quarry covering about
35 acres, maximum depth of 58 feet. Has many brim and bass (around 4 pounds)
all over the place (no spearfishing).
Quite a few small sunken boats, rock crushing equipment, buildings,
structures, truck, bus, and other things to explore. My favorite has been
the underwater tree forest on the far side of the quarry.
Beery
