Hello,
I guess I am rather frustrated with my recent slammings in this echo. I write
reguarly for FAMA< TFH and Aquarium Fish Magazine. I post here the same
articles that I have published . I don't do it to impress anyone or hassle
anyone I dio it because 48% of the aquatic species in this country are
threatened (EPA 1997 report). I do it because aquarist spend 20 times more
money annually than fishermen. So they could be the greatest positive impact
on our native fishes. Lets say 1 buck from each aquarist in this country went
to stream preservation. WOW what a different world it would be.
I am sorry people don't buy into native fishes. They should ,they are
beutifull and reasonable use of our resources. Anyhow I feel like I am
talking to myself most of the time and like I said, i retire from the fido
aquarium forum . So the best of luck to you folks here. I have tried my best
here. I believe in aquarist as naturalist. So please take some time to
consider what role your aquarium club or you personally could take in local
conservation. Be it breeding of local species, or stream cleanup I can assure
your efforts will assure that the future of our native species would be
brighter . So please take the time to learn a bit about your local species.
They are beutifull , personable and very suitable for the home aquarium !
BTW catch my most recent article in the Feb FAMA
