I presume you tried to test at the output of the VFO in which case the
transistor - the only 2 for VFO in my( future)  TR-4- might be blown up in
which case the TX side shouln't  work either. Shouldn't - it?
 Did you check?
 If the whole LO aggregate is indeed working ( VFO, Xtal oscillator,
pre-mixer)- check every stage there , it might be the first rx-mixer which
is dead...Could be an electrostatic discharge or so coming from your
Counter...also unlikely as those tubes are rather resistant ( their
advantage over solid-state!). May an aging component  shot there?

Sri to be quite unprecise..its only theory from me  so far as I am awaiting
delivery of  a tr4 ( copper chassis)  schematic of which  I have a little
time  to study ...
