Ok so I watched the short version and have a couple of comments.
First demo was the one where you take a phone to a meeting to share
documents. Seems like a waste to track everything you do on every computer
just so you can sync your phone (privacy issues) but far be it from me to
think like that. Buy in a world of instant email, this seems like a mega
waste of computing power.
Second demo was the one where they draw on paper and project the remote guy
drawing on the same paper or playing chess via a projector. Seems to me
online games have taken this way further than anything this guy is doing. I
mean come on..
Third was the guy using a phone to see what others are doing on their
systems, zooming in zooming out, the whole time I was thinking "I need
a nap"..
This is supposed to be "cool research stuff"? In 1969 Doug
Engelbart was showinv video over a network, that was cool. This stuff, this
isn't research, this is balancing my checkbook with voice commands..
Show me a hack for my celphone so that I can take more than 30 seconds of
video (I've got a gig of storage) at a time and I'm more impressed than
anything in this video. I'm not knocking your posting of the links, thanks,
I like the information but I'm simply shocked that MS thinks this is cool
stuff.
Geo.
