"Rocco Lardiere" made an utterence

Gents:

I have been reading the glowing reports on the Drake blanker on the list. I
have several in my Drakes, and they do work well. However, my advice to
N7IOH was to try to find another solution (see below). I like to be able to
fine tune the phasing and amplitude of the inverted "blanking"
pulses, and I
can do that with the JPS ANC-4. Most people who try one won't go back -
they do NOT introduce cross-modulation on the bands if operated correctly
(no more fuzziness). They are rated at 150 W PEP (watch out if you run more
than that through them) and switch RX/TX automatically. For best results,
you can locate a "noise sniffer" antenna externally. Oh - one more thing -
you can run multiple Drake stations through one of these boxes. It's a
cheap solution that really, really cuts down on those pesky local noise
sources. At the moment, mine is knocking down an S9 buzz on 40 to S1.

MFJ now sells a similar unit, the MFJ-1026. I have not tried one of these,
but it appears to have the same manual phasing and gain controls as the JPS.

Just my humble opinion.
