Replying to a message of Shawn Highfield to Bob Ackley:

SH> The first copy (Opened one) my mother bought when it was new, and
SH> the sealed one I actually found at a local record store (They still
SH> sell records) and picked it up for only $5 in the bargin bin. I ran
SH> home with it before the clerk realized what happened. :)

Back in the late seventies I used to rummage through the 'bargain bin' (actually
they were called 'cutouts') in a mall record store fairly regularly. One
day I happened
to find (and grab) five copies of 'Introducing the Beatles' on the VeeJay label. The
clerk asked me why I was buying five copies of the same record and I said 'That's all
you had, just ring it up.' He rang them up - $2 apiece - and put them in a
bag for me,
and then I told him that the records were worth about $200 apiece (VeeJay
issued several Beatles records in the US, but Capitol had an *exclusive*
contract to do that; Capitol sued VeeJay and ran the company out of
business; Beatles records on VeeJay labels - primarily VeeJay and Swan -
are generally worth more than the Capitol recordings, if you can find
them).

I think it was one production run of 45s on the Swan label had the group labelled as
'Beattles' - two 't's - and those are *really* worth some money today.
