When the new edition of "LAN Times Encyclopedia of Networking" comes out, it
will be the 2nd. If you provide the ISBN codes I gave you earlier to your
bookstore, that will make sure you get the right ones. The ISBN changes with
every edition, and even differs when the same book comes out in hard- and
soft-cover.
The Sheldon book is probably about US$40. The Tanenbaum book is about US$80.
If expense is an issue, start with the Linux source code. It can be download
free from many sites on the Internet, and is widely made up on CD-ROM by many
vendors for only a few dollars. LSL ("http://www.lsl.com") in the U.S. sells
Linux CD-ROMs for the lowest prices I know, about US$2 to US$5 plus shipping.
