If I had said to someone that I'd been to the U.S. when I first visited
Port Angeles, Washington in 1955, I likely would have been the subject of
hoots. But Canada is not difficult to visit and if you were to drive to
Alaska, you would pass through a fair bit of it.
Incidentally, I have now visited Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, New
Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, the District of Columbia, Michigan,
Wisconsin, Minnesota, Washington, Oregon, California, Montana and (of
course) Alaska. I can now say I've been to the United States.
