Mike, could you explain "step mode", please (and, possibly recommend a
program that utilizes it, as above)? I'm aware of the need for a MIDI
box, if using MIDI-capable instruments, but I don't have any, and I was
hoping to be able to 'play' around a little, on the cheap. :)
 
I recently found a program that lets you use a Win9x keyboard as a synth
kbd., but it doesn't allow saving to a .MID (and I don't have enough CPU
power to use the synth and record a .WAV simultaneously). Here's the

Something like the above, with the ability to save (and, hopefully edit)
.MIDs would be right up my alley.
