Hi Wendy,
RH> Seems the machine has a temperament of its' own, right?
WB> You can say that again...but I think it is MY temperament that
WB> is the real problem, Ruth. Anyone but me can use that machine
WB> and not have a bit of trouble with it.
Sounds like my friend Marty, and her machine. But, she doesn't lose her
temper at it, she just doesn't use it but will let others use it.
RH> hand, sometimes those patterns are more bother than they'reworth.
WB> Oh, that's what I did, but I had a struggle with that till i got
WB> one of my hubby's socks and eyeballed it first. I just do
WB> not have the kind of mind that pictures shapes correctly.
I know what you mean, sometimes I'll look at something and get an idea;
other times I'll just cut "off the top of my head." I've had some art
training which has been a help in some ways, a hinderance in others.
Also have a husband who thinks I should make a pattern first.
RH> Of course; Steve loved the vest & tie I did for him using the computer
RH> bug fabric I found in the Keepsake catalog. He had no idea that the
WB> I saw that fabric and I loved it! I was tempted but let it go by.
WB> Now i wish I hadn't!
It's still in the "Almost Spring" catalog I got from them. I
mentioned it to one of the ladies who works in the fabric dept. at
Wal-Mart and she wanted to get some because her son works on computers.
Took in a fall catalog for her.
WB> Tom surprised me this year, with a new CD-Rom drive and sound card.
WB> Thought he bought them for himself! They aren't working though.
Steve is always getting upgrades on this and that for the computers.
Right now, we have "my" system set up and "his." I use it mostly for
Fido and writing jobs but know it cam be used for more.
RH> That's about the time I walk away from the machine, clear my head for
RH> a few hours and come back to it. Saves getting the urge to pitch the
WB> I didn't have that kind of time that day and I was determined to
WB> get that silly stocking done! Finally persevered...with some
WB> help from the best source available! :)
I've had those days; sometimes a short break is all that's needed. Do
something else for a few minutes and things will clear up.
RH> Christmas in Edmund; after all her fussing about needing snow clothes,
RH> they didn't have any of the white stuff and we did.
WB> We didn't either. I was just as glad, as Tom's sis won't come for
WB> the holiday if it's snowy out, or icy.
Deborah was really hoping; guess she should have stayed here. But, I
know what travel is like in bad weather, so I'm glad it was nice.
RH> I think mine says "Again? Can't you leave me alone?" (G)
WB> Tell it you'll let it nap at night while you are sleeping, and that
WB> is all it gets!
No, actually mine gets rest while I'm using the serger or doing
something else. It's the big projects that make it seem like I'm sewing
every spare minute.
Catch you later,
Ruth
