I wondered if you were still around the echo. Fortunately there seem to be
several groups here in the state!
I still haven't made any decisions regarding homeschooling, and probably
won't until August. It may not be financially feasible for me to homeschool
next school year. If that is the case, both girls are already forewarned that
we may be doing a lot of supplementing of their schoolwork with readalouds
(so that history doesn't get half of it left out!).
Our family vacation will be in support of the schooling effort. We're heading
for Mother Lode country, around Sacramento and into the Tahoe region. Since
Jennifer has just finished CA state history, and Kristin is going to be
getting it next year (maybe), we want to do the historical regions of
California as well as to help them realize CA geography firsthand. We want to
do Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park, Columbia State Historic Park,
the hotel in Angels Camp (where Mark Twain evidently got the idea to write
the story about the jumping frog of Calaveras County -which is on our
readaloud list for this summer), and Calaveras Big Trees State Park. Of
course Lake Tahoe. We've "done" Yosemite, tho we might "do" it again if there
is time. Anyone here have any other suggestions?
