Take one stately old English Manor. Locate it at the edge of an English
Moor. Let there be cousins who inter-marry. Stir well and soon the
family secrets will seep through the cracks. ...The more than occasional
insanities. ...The wailing that can be heard late at night. ...Passers
by who stop to inquire after the strange noises, mysteriously disappear.
When the madness reaches a certain unacceptable level, the manor suddenly
becomes an old castle on a hill in Transylvania, and the main characters no
longer of British nobility, but instead, of some vague European ethnic
background. Monsters prevail, both of the manufactured variety and of the
results of years of inbreeding.
The interesting thing about the above scenario is, it is often based in
fact, not fiction. Proofs are hard to come by, but the conditions exist
nevertheless.
Horror stories are not hard to come by. ...All it takes is a few cousins,
sisters and brothers who find themselves attractive to each other.

Jack
