Some of that seems to be more in the hyperbole of the 'casters... ;)
Whether in their minds or mouths or both... ;) Most of what I see here
is cyclical patterns, and short memories of earlier times... :) That
said, though, this February did break the record for the coldest since
1871... probably mostly because, for a change, we never got a thaw
somewhere in the middle of the month, it just stayed very cold steadily.
It was also the first February in a long time that had so much snow...
but I remember, in the decade or so after we moved here, that that had
been normal snowfall... sledding/snow parties had been regular February
events, but over the years, the snow didn't cooperate for a while...
