subject: Baby and calls in Vol.

Are there any Vol. Fire members out there.....
If so, do you have a policy on bringing children to calls?
We are surrounded by other communities that allow members to bring
children to calls, if they need to be watched one member will watch
while the others go on the call. In these departments they get credit
and pay.
I proposed a policy to do this and only give credit for members unless
at least 3 members with children were present and then one could watch
and the others could go...
This was shot down by the chief (a grandfather with no little children)
and a Capt. (his kids are old enough to stay home now, but used to bring
them all the time and make others watch them...of which he denies now).
I have 8 years on the department with 6 as a Lt., I have been an EMT for
7 and an RN for 4, I work nights and my wife works days and we try do
do our own day-caring as much as possible. My percentages had always
been in the 50-75% range until my new partner arrived last January. Last
posting I was 34% and this next 6 month post will be lucky to be in the
20's! We need 33.33% to stay in good standing, any others have
suggestions or like stories?
