From: Chris The cards can be produced by many manufacturers and sold under many brands, which is the same model ATI uses. The important point is that both manufacturers sell their graphics chipsets to the different manufacturers. Thus, unless the card specifically says it was made by ATI, then it is likely another manufacturer's implementation of the ATI graphics chipset. Same scenario with nVidia, although I'm not sure if they actually make any cards in-house (like ATI) or if they just sell the chips to other companies. The ATI site has a surprisingly clear explanation of what I'm talking about. When you go to get an ATI driver, you need to know if it is a card made by ATI or simply using an ATI chipset. Clear as mud? /Chris Richard B. wrote: > On Tue, 15 Feb 2005 07:15:06 -0800, Chris wrote: > > >>This is not saying >>that the nVidia cards are bad, just not optimal for FS2004. > > > I understand that nVidia uses a lot of different manufacturers for > their cards? > > - Richard --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/45 1 106/2000 633/267 |
