For  any doubting Thomases and critics who refuse to accept the fact that
there was a very PEACEFUL, MUTUAL and ORGANIZED transfer of ownership and
moderatorship of the EDGE_ONLINE echo from Steve Asher to myself, I offer
the following clear evidence. I had hoped that Steve would be able to post
this message in the echo himself, but as Steve explains below, and as I also
explained in an earlier message, at this current time, Steve is having some
connection issues with Zone 1. In a word, there was NO conspiracy against
Steve to steal the echo from him, as Lee Lofaso so falsely claimed. Steve
freely, and willingly, transferred the echo to me, for reasons which he
clearly explains below.

Hello Jeff,

I got a message from Lee today, as he telnets to my system, &
he had the mis-impression that the Zone 3 outage was a wider
"conspiracy" to isolate Zone 3 & take the Edge Online echo from
me. I have replied to him that it was my suggestion in email to
you, but the outage has simply complicated things, given that
Ross Cassell threatened to disconnect Zone 1 in the Holysmoke
echo.

Lee should be OK, but as the outage continues & my messages are
not getting out, could you perhaps post this in Edge Online on
my behalf, if you agree with it...

If you want to, you can also forward my message to DEBATE, if
that will help settle any hostility there.

To the readers and posters in Edge Online, from Steve Asher

I had been thinking about the future of the echo since Jeff
Snyder returned to Fidonet and the echo, and as he had
originated Edge Online for a specific purpose before I became
moderator, I contacted Jeff and offered to return the echo to
him if he wanted it. After some thought, Jeff agreed to take
over the echo, so we have been working to complete the handover
with the Echomail Robot.

In the meantime, there has been an outage which has left Zone 3
isolated from Zone 1, so I have not been able to read any
messages in this or any other international echoes. I intended
to post a "changeover" message introducing Jeff as the new
Moderator, but the outage has foiled that, so I have asked Jeff
to post this on my behalf. Long-winded explanation out of the
way.

I have enjoyed posting the various news items and snippets in
here over the years, but I was always aware that I was not the
originator of the echo, and with Jeff having a specific
purpose, I say goodbye as Moderator, and hand over the echo to
Jeff.
