Hello Jeff, I've been reading through "The Parables of Dr. Seuss", by Robert Short. Short is a retired Presbyterian minister in Little Rock, Arkansas, who also wrote "The Gospel According to Peanuts" - which I also have on my bookshelf. Ted Geisel was the author of the Dr. Seuss books, a collection of children's stories. Short's contention is that all of those stories contain elements of Christian thought, and that Geisel deliberately wrote those stories with that in mind. The Christian message can be found in many places, far and wide, including in the arts. Short kind of takes things a bit farther in a book I have yet to read, "The Gospel According to Dogs: What Our Four-Legged Saints Can Teach Us". But it makes sense. Jesus made reference, many times, to nature and wildlife. He did so to make a point, to reveal a religious truth. Dr. Seuss presented a very positive message. So did Jesus. The other commonality between the message of Dr. Seuss and Jesus is that Dr. Seuss did not believe in eternal damnation. --Lee * SLMR 2.1a * Persist... Procreate... Prosper...
