I guess I don't remember feeling too much of that kind of feeling in school,
or if I did, I know now why we studied it and realize that my questioning it
was a child's point of view. The *only* real items I remember asking myself
that question about were geometry and algebra. Now, as an adult, I realize
that we learn problem solving, logic, and theory vs. does it work from the
study of those two maths.
