But woe to you if you try to take it off and expect to find a clean
connector underneath. It doesn't separate cleanly. The chief CBS tower
installation manager-when these things were still being installed in
number-swore by wrapping a joint in electrical tape and then molding the
coax seal over it. I've done it both ways, and if you ever expect to be
handling the connector again the taping plus seal worked well.

The best stuff around now is called Coax Seal. It is a moldable clay type
substance which is non hardening and does a great job of sealing when
properly applied.
