Well, I have to admit that it has been 9 years since I was certified, so I am
sure things have changed, but I do remember that my certification course was
every Friday night for 12 weeks with Saturday and Sunday being pool training.
Certification included 2 dives in a spring and 3 open water dives (like in
West Palm.) My ex-husband got his Advanced Open Water at the same time, and I
remember the classes cause I would go with him, and his Advanced
Certification
included night diving, deep diving, navigation, wreck diving and one other
item that I can't remember because I didn't go on the dive. It may have just
been coincidence, but it was pretty cool either way.
I must admit that there aren't enough NASDS schools in my area though. My
current husband as well as my brother-in-law want to be certified and
I'd much prefer them to go NASDS. For us, living in Jacksonville, we can
either travel 6 hours to Pensacola, or two hours to Daytona. After a hard
days
work, not a particularly appealing idea. But, somehow.....
Anyways, thanks for the correction. Like I said, I'm sure changes have been
made in this fast paced world, but when I was young..... ;)
