| subject: | BBS`ing and HAM Radio |
Mike, MP>I am not a HAM so I may not be the best person to answer this but, if you MP>search on youtube, you will find some videos of HAMs logging into a HAM MP>radio "BBS." Search for "Packet Radio Bulletin Board." MP>I am sure there are other links as well, but that is the connection that MP>comes to my mind. You are correct in that. Some Sysops like myself feature ham radio as one of the themes. At one time, I was able to have a "Amateur Radio Packet Door" on the BBS, but for some reason lately, the terminal node controller (TNC -- a modem for ham radio), thinks there is a connection in progress, when there's not. So I had to remove it from the BBS. But, when it worked, the ham radio Sysop could allow verified users who were also ham radio operators to access the packet network, courtesy of his TNC.
